According to a new book (called “Game Change”) to be released this week, Bill Clinton told Ted Kennedy that, “A few years ago, this guy would have been getting us coffee,” referring to then presidential candidate Barack Obama. Clinton also griped that Kennedy was only supporting Obama because he is black.

“There is actual political science that backs that up,” said Ifill, who is black. “I don’t know that Harry Reid has read it, and what Harry Reid said was certainly impolitic, at least, but there is evidence to support that people – whether it is a matter of voting for a white candidate or voting for a black candidate – if a person is very much different than who they are, or what they perceive the mainstream to be, they are less likely to vote for that person.”

Question No. 9 on the form, which will be mailed out beginning March 15, asks: “What is Person 1’s race?” The answer choices are: “White; Black, African-American, or Negro; American Indian or Alaska Native.”

On March 15th, filmmaker Reginald Bullock released the short film “A War For Your Soul” over the internet. In 7 months, the film has been viewed by over 2.5 million people over the internet. The film is being shown on over 700 websites, and has now reached Ghana, UK, Israel and many Caribbean Islands. The film was originally targeted towards at-risk African American youth, but most viewers are left asking themselves “How can I help my community?”

Leandrew Robinson: “Our biggest break was when Essence Magazine did an article on our Obama shirts and from there our online sales picked up dramatically. The events leading up to our Essence Magazine article was the biggest obstacle I have encountered so far.”
