Letter from The Editor: Now is the time

It’s so easy to go from college, knowing and doing what you want, to one year after graduation back in your parents basement indenting your bottom on their cream leather couch. I commend those of you who opted not to go back home, who moved far away from the safe zone into the wicked world of retail or fiery pits of fast food because there were no positions open in the field you just spent the last four years diving into debt for.
But I must ask… who is really worst off? Someone who decided to save money by going home, working at auto zone, hanging out with old high school buddies or someone who decided to fly away from the nest to be a big boy, calling mom every month because the local burger shop didn’t give enough hours to pay the light bill? When will it be time to put down the patties and put yourself in a position that will further your experience into the field of your dreams?

Now is the time for you to join us in spreading your knowledge and experience with others. Mind you, we are not in need of anyone, but from one of those who opted to move out of state far away from the place I call home to come be the grown up me, on my own, in my field, making moves and breaking barriers… it wasn’t until I met The Black Intel did I tie all those aspects together.

That really hit home for me in so many ways. I decided to move back home after I left school and all I do is work and it just seem like I’m gong nowhere. I had the opportunity to move to another state but I decided against it. Now it’s a year later and I’m still here! I just recently received an administrative assistant job in Norfolk Va. I leave in THREE WEEKS!!! I am sooo happy to leave my parents house and venture out on my own in a different state!

This is a great question. Especially right now. I have been asking my husband for the past 3 years, when are you going to fulfill your dream of becoming a Fashion Designer?. He’s only just begun…He has his 2nd Fashion Show scheduled in March here in El Paso. I guess we all need to be reminded to make our dreams become a reality. He is now say “it is so fulfilling to get paid for what you love to do.” When will you?

Ms. Ashley: Congratulations on your Administrative job in Norfolk! It’s about time for you to head out now, I wish you much success. Keep us updated.
Ms. Amanda: Thanks, as long as my mouth is big, it will continue to run lol.
Mrs. G: It’s almost time for your husbands fashion show. I hope that it is a success and that there are more to come. I am so close I can taste it.

as everyone else has stated…this was right on time and very inspirational! as someone who went to college chose a major that would pay the bills instead of following my passion, it was hard to take a stand, and basically throw everything out the window and start over again…this time following my heart…not my wallet. while i am not at home i am not in my desired place…yet…but i see it just over the horizon! hehe…thanks for providing this unconventional point of view! follow your dreams!
