You might be asking yourself whats wrong with your outfit and I would be inclined to say nothing because I didn’t think there was anything wrong with it. I did notice however went I went into the Stoneridge Mall in Pleasanton California that other people looked like they had an issue with my outfit judged by all the stares I was receiving. I am sure there was assumptions made about my long chain my calm demeanor and my strong stride but I didn’t care. I don’t understand how we are in 2009 and still hung up on images especially in a public setting such as a mall. With the first Black president governing over this country when are people going to realize Blacks come in different shapes, sizes behavior patterns, mentalities we are not all the same so you shouldn’t treat us as such. You may have no idea of what I am speaking of especially if you grew up with a privileged background, but take a look at this video and you tell me if things start to make sense.

This was very interesting! Great thoughts on the reality that only some people still admit…racism still happens in all different types of ways!

What up Sis? It really bothers me that people think racism is gone from America because we have a Black President. But racism is still alive and well. I can’t wait till we get to a point where race doesn’t matter.

Yo so I saw this and was like this is crazy…I can’t believe some of those people just stood there and watch with this woman racially profiling another woman… but wait I thought everything was cool since Obama is president now…right

Real talk i see that type of stuff all the time at my job…and since i’m the only black person on hand I’m like the racially acceptable buffer….Yves you go over there and watch them make sure they don’t take nothin…eff you…i mean i even comment on it but they kinda brush it off like oh Yves is being funny…no i’m being real when i tell you thats racist as hell…but yeah i would have been like that one black man in the piece and said something…cause that was out of pocket….but I do appreciate the media bringing it to light for the few who do watch it make themselves more self conscious of what they say and or do.

Ooooh this video made my skin hot. I work in retail so I know how it is to “profile” someone but my mouth was on the floor until I found out that the store associate was an actress. I thought they were laying it in thick but then I realized how naive I am, simply because it has never happened to me. Or maybe it has, but never like that. I could never just stand and watch ANYONE of any race go through such humiliation and unprofessional-ism.
