Judge Keith Bardwell, an elected justice of the peace for Tangipahoa Parish’s 8th Ward in Louisiana is refusing to issue a marriage license and preside over the wedding of Beth Humphrey, 30, and her boyfriend, Terence McKay, 32, both of Hammond, Louisiana. Terence McKay is black and Beth Humphrey is white.

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh has been dropped from a group seeking to buy the St. Louis Rams. Limbaugh was to be a limited partner in a bid led by St. Louis Blues chairman Dave Checketts, but Checketts said in a statement Wednesday that Limbaugh’s participation had complicated the effort. The group will move forward without him.

In these times of economic hardship, Americans are finding it more difficult to balance our budgets. With unemployment at a record high and countless employed citizens receiving pay cuts, we have to think harder about our spending habits. The stress of the recession has hit the Black community especially hard; recent studies show that the unemployment rate of African Americans is approximately 11.5 percent, the highest it has been since 2003.
