I wish I was painter

Tonight I wish I was a painter
Tonight being a poet just won’t do
Tonight I want to sit in front of a canvas
And recreate you…….
You see I want to do in a few days
What it took your parents nine months to do
I would start with your smile, the centerpiece of the masterpiece I call your face
Then with an ever so steady hand I would draw those lips of yours that I always want to taste
Adding a little darker shade of paint to emphasize the dimple on the right of your cheek
I would then draw your nose, then your hair making sure I emphasize on those auburn curls
I would carefully outline those beautiful brown eyes that I see staring right back at me
I would make sure your ears were the right size
I can ensure you your chin won’t be to wide
I would paint you and I would make sure I capture every detail
….so maybe then you will see
That by my mirroring of you on a canvas just how truly beautiful you are to me
